News Nation Rating: 2.5/5

Salman Khan starrer Bharat is based on the 2014 Korean film, Ode to My Father. The movie has portrayed the story of a common who crosses different stages of his life. Salman Khan, who is playing ‘Bharat’ can be seen donning different looks in the movie. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Bharat also stars Katrina Kaif and Sunil Grover. The journey of Bharat begins with his elderly stage along with Katrina Kaif and Sunil Grover (who is playing the role of Salman’s best friend).

More than half of the film’s story is shown in flashback which starts from 1947. In the journey of Bharat, actor Jackie Shroff is playing the father’s role of Salman Khan. In the first part of the film, India’s partition scene has been recreated. During the period between 1961 to 1964, Salman aka Bharat is seen working in circus. During this period, Salman is seen performing daredevilry stunts. During this journey, you can see the romantic chemistry between Disha Patani and Salman Khan. Audiences will also see duo shaking their legs on the romantic number ‘Slow Motion’.

This is followed by Salman Khan's 1970 journey, which includes Katrina Kaif's entry in the film. Katrina works in an oil extracting company in a very good post where Salman Khan and Sunil Grover also start working. Meanwhile, romance has also been shown between Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Not only this, there comes a point where Salman Khan gets stuck inside the oil extractor post which, the story takes a new turn.

The journey of Bharat reaches to the year 1970. In the stage, we can see Salman and Sunil Grover both working as a Navy officer. Overall, it can be said that the journey of the film Bharat has been divided into different parts which has action, romance, suspense and comedy as well.

It is to be noted that Ali Abbas Zafar failed to recreate the magic like Tiger Zinda hai and Sultan.

Bharat’s first song ‘Slow Motion’ is peppy number which features Salman Khan and Disha Patani. Keeping the taste of the youngsters in mind, this song was composed.  The second song that was released was ‘Chaasni’, a romantic number which seems to be inspired by Sultan’s ‘Jag Ghoomiya’. Another songs which were released includes ‘Aithey Aa’, ‘Zinda’, ‘Aaya Na Tu’ and Thap Thap.

Both Salman and Katrina in the film Bharat justified their roles. Importantly, Salman and Katrina’s chemistry has always been appreciated and liked by the audiences. But unfortunately, the direction of Ali Abbas Zafar this time has been a bit loose. News Nation gives Salman-starrer Bharat 2.5 star out of five.
