Taapsee Pannu has once again proven that she is the powerhouse of brilliant acting talent in this intriguing horror-thriller. Game Over is a psycho-suspense drama that plays out in a small apartment in which Sapna (superb Taapsee) lives with her house help Kalamma (Vinodhini Vaidyanathan). A video game designer, Sapna lives alone and is struggling with a mental ailment. Laced with suffocating anxiety, Sapna suffers panic attacks every time a date nears that has dark associations from her past. A horrible twist in the tale reveals that the tattoo on Sapna’s hand is not normal. It is a memorial tattoo, which has ashes of a dead person mixed with the ink. People get these tattoos so that they can keep the memories of their loved ones with them.
Few scenes later, Sapna gets to know that her tattoo has ashes of a 27-year-old murdered woman! The story takes a spectacular turn. We won’t tell you much after that! For this, you have to watch the movie! Let’s just say that you will stop breathing with all the suspense-induced horror!
With this film, director Ashwin has tried to convey the subtleties of sensitive issue such as mental trauma. Both Taapsee and Vinodhini shine in the flick. From all those expressions of a troubled person to showing demons playing out in her head, Taapsee captures your imagination. After playing feisty Rumi in Manmarizyan and closet killer in Badla, Taapsee shows that she can play every kind of role under the Sun.
If you are into horror and thriller is what gives you adrenaline rush, then Game Over is just for you. The movie gives you a good mix of both and is perfect change form all the rom-coms and social drama. There are some scenes in the movie that will leave you confused, but don’t worry, at the end you will come out as impressed fan! If you live for on-screen thrills than this is perfect recipe for you!
