New Delhi:

Super 30 based on the life and struggle of mathematics genius Anand Kumar narrates an honest story of deserving underprivileged students making it to coveted institution but falls flat in its charcaterization and narrative.

India's renowned mathematician who believes that 'Education' as a birth right embarks on a journey where he takes up the challenge of coaching underprivileged chilldren to make their dream of joining IIT a success. Blessed with immense talent he meets wealth early in life, befriends education mongers, corrupt politicians and in the process become famous, all this to finally realise his true calling lies elsewhere.

He starts a coaching class in Patna, designed for 30 deserving, underprivileged students who are aspiring to get admission into coveted institutions like IIT, those who have the merit but not the facility to make the cut. How his students will make his their dream a reality and what are the challenges they will face is what the film will lead you to. Hrithik Roshan pulls off a fine performance essaying Anand Kumar, capturing his character’s sincerity and determination very well.

Super 30 throws light on the age old problem that even when Education is fundamental right, attaining it is truly the privilege of those who have the access and economic resources.

There are many moments in the movie that will make you introspect on socio-economic scenarios and move you like Hrithik igniting among his students the real hunger for better education and a better life even when they are in empty stomach.

Hrithik Roshan delivers a fine performance essaying Anand Kumar, capturing his character’s determination and integrityvery well. However, his physicality with the acquired diction and brown-face makeup may not be entirely convincing.

Mrunal Thakur is effective in her limited screen time. Pankaj Tripathi as Education minister and a corrupt politician is brilliant. Nandish Singh as Hrithik's brother too has done fine job as a supporting cast.

The film had its 'wow' moments that will leave a heavy impact although not with a flawless narrative. The story loses course in the secound half as the lengthy run time weighs on the storytelling. Some of the dialogues hit home but certain scenes and plotpoints come out to be overtly dramatic and unnecessary. Te climax too fails to leave a long lasting impact and needed fine tuning from the director Vikas Bahl.

‘Super 30’ comes out to be a moral drama with motivational overtones. Like many other Bollywood flicks it is  the story of a human who fights all odds to set an example for the world to see. Just for that it’s worth a watch.
