New Delhi:

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Breach Candy hospital on 11 November, 2019 after she complained of breathing difficulties. She was put on a ventilator. Her PR team had issued a statement saying, ''Lata Mangeshkar ji had a viral chest congestion. Keeping her age in mind, as a precautionary measure, she has checked in to Breach Candy Hospital in order to ensure antibiotics on time to prevent any more infection. She is stable and recovering.''

Now, the veteran singer’s niece has issued a statement saying she is ‘doing good’. "She is doing good. Prayers and good wishes from all over have worked. We want to thank everyone," Rachana Shah told PTI.

It was not clear whether Mangeshkar was still in the ICU or on ventilator.

In her over seven-decade long career, Mangeshkar has lent her voice for thousands of songs in Hindi, regional and foreign languages. Her last full album was for the late filmmaker Yash Chopra-directed 2004 film Veer Zaara. Mangeshkar recorded her latest song this year - Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki, which was released on March 30 as a tribute to the Indian Army.

Born on September 28, 1929, Lata Mangeshkar has been awarded the Bharat Ratna, highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna in 2001. In 1974, the Guinness Book of Records ranked her as the most recorded artiste in the history. She had reportedly sung over 25,000 songs between 1948 and 1974.
