Ranu Mondal became an overnight sensation after she sang legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar’s song Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai. She has already made her Bollywood debut by singing two songs for music-composer Himesh Reshammiya in his upcoming film Happy, Hardy and Heer. Ranu now gave her first interview to IANS, in which she made some shocking revelations.

From informing that she was born in a rich family, to spending time at late Bollywood actor Feroz Khan's house, she revealed many things. ''I wasn’t born on a footpath. I belonged to a well-to-do family but it was my destiny. I got separated from my parents when I was just six months old. We shifted from West Bengal to Mumbai after marriage,'' Ranu stated.

''My husband worked at filmstar Feroz Khan’s house as a cook. His son Fardeen was in college at that time. They used to treat us very well, like family members, " she added. ''We had a house but you know you need people to maintain it. There were so many days of loneliness. I struggled a lot but always believed in God. I used to sing according to situations. It wasn’t to get singing opportunities, just for the love of singing,'' she said.

Ranu expressed her desire to own a house in Mumbai as it gets difficult for her to commute from her house to the recording studios. "I am very happy and feeling great. I have already recorded five to six songs. The thing is, music facilities in Mumbai mean a lot to me. They are important. To commute to and from my home to Mumbai on plane is also difficult. It would have been good had there been a house in Mumbai. But I don’t have to think about it. God is there.''

Himesh Reshammiya recently revealed that she is being flooded by calls from who's who of the music industry, A R Rahman and Sonu Nigam to name a few. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Ranu Mandal is being showered by offers from Bollywood, Bengali and South Indian film industries. She got a call from AR Rahman's office and even Sonu Nigam has also shown interest in collaborating with the viral singer, said Atindra Chakroborty - the man who recorded her soulful rendition of Lata Mangeshkar's song and sharing it on social media.
