New Delhi:

Taylor Swift’s 'You need to calm down’ music video dropped on Monday and it sure does brighten up your day, literally. Interestingly or should we say, very calculatedly, released whilst in the middle of the Pride Month, the video, made in all the rainbow colours of the LGBTQ community features a number of famous LGBTQ torchbearers like Ellen DeGeneres, Laverne Cox, RuPaul and the cast of Queer Eye, Billy Porter, Todrick Hall, Hayley Kiyoko, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Adam Rippon.

Known for her love songs, Taylor Swift, in one of the boldest moves ever takes down the homophobes and her own haters with lies such as, “Sunshine on the street at the parade / But you would rather be in the dark ages.” The video with catchy and and sing-along lines such as “Like, damn … it’s 7 a.m.” as most of her music are, is safe to say, celebration of the LGBTQ community both visually, lyrically and musically.

We see the celebrations of all types of sexuality such as a legion of queer celebs doing famously queer things be it sipping tea, performing in drag, and getting married in colourful baby-blue tux, basically, being ‘themselves’.

Smashing the Bad Blood old news with Katy Perry, the video, very interestingly, in terms of colour, takes us very similarly back to Perry’s ‘California Gurls’ as we see the two songstress bond in the typical Katy Perry bright-hued hair at the end of the video as Ryan Reynolds, appearing for a swift second , paints the whole celebration away.

A follow-up of ‘Me, Taylor Swift’s 'You Need to Calm Down' is the second single from her seventh album Lover.
