Rajinikanth's upcoming film Darbar is slated to hit the screens on Thursday and the film is expected to do an impressive business at the box-office. The film also stars Nayanthara and Suneil Shetty in lead roles. According to film trade analyst Girish Johar, the festive season in the southern region of the country will lead to great collections for the AR Murugadoss directorial.
He told Indian Express, ''Darbar stars megastar of the country Rajinikanth. Suniel Shetty plays the main villain and Nayanthara is seen as the female lead. It is a mammoth film. Darbar is arriving in theaters with huge expectations and hype. Down south, there are a lot of takers. As far as the Hindi belt is concerned, the makers will get a decent start despite it being a non-holiday release up North.”
He added, ''With other key films, Chhapaak and Tanhaji releasing at the same time, I would peg the film’s box office collection in the Hindi belt at around Rs 2-2.5 crore.''
Rajnikanth's 2019 release, Petta which released during Pongal also did wonders at the box-office. It crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in just 11 days. Talking about Rajinikanth, Murugadoss had earlier said, ''Rajini sir isn’t a planner. At least, from the interactions I have had with him, I can assure this. He is highly intuitive and focused. Most importantly, he doesn’t gossip or belittle others. That’s a quality that I admire. Also, he rarely goes into the caravan. He prefers sitting on the chair and watch others perform.''
The film is produced by Lyca Productions and is releasing in around 7000 screens worldwide.
