Now-a-days, it seems that saving a film from piracy is nearly impossible. Yes, you read it right. After Devarattam and Maharshi, yet another Tamil film named 100 was leaked by notorious piracy site Tamilrockers on its releasing date.

Notably, the film features Atharvaa and Hansika Motwani in the lead roles. According to the reports, 100 is now available to download and watch online. 100 had received mixed reviews at its opening day and was expected to mint good money on weekend but the leak might affect its business. Importantly, 100 was leaked even before the evening show began on the first day of its release.

It is to be noted that the issue is not new to the Tamil film industry. Other film industries including Bollywood, Telugu, Punjabi and others face the same problem.

Tamilrockers has leaked several movies including Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy, Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike, Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Anupam Kher’s The Accidental Prime Minister, Captain Marvel, Luka Chuppi, Thugs of Hindostan, Avengers: Endgame, Kalank and Total Dhamaal among others.

Tamilrockers has become a big problem for the film industry. Despite action by law enforcement agencies and even interventions by the courts including the Madras High Court, Tamilrockers continues to operate fearlessly.

In the year 2018, the Madras High Court directed internet service providers to block 12,000 websites, and more than 2000 among them were operated by Tamilrockers alone. Pirated copies of films that are leaked online just after its release lead to significant financial losses for the production companies.
