New Delhi:

Indian Idol season 9 finale winner is out and it is none other than our south indian sensation LV Revanth. Revanth has already broke the internet with his achievement after winning the title of Indian Idol on April 2, but many are not aware of his struggle in the journey of searching for the fame.

Born in February 10, 1990 in Srikakulam and brought up in Visakhapatnam, Lolla Venkata Revanth Kumar Sharma aka L V Revanth had a particular underdog story. He lost his father, just before he was born. He has an elder brother and he was brought up by his mother.

He also worked at PCO Booths and catering companies to fund his education in music.

He completed part of his schooling at Bala Bhanu Vidyalayam in Srikakulam and studied at Dr. V.S Krishna Government College. He then moved to Hyderabad to pursue his career in playback singing.

Revanth’s career took a turn with the encouragement given by popular Telugu music composer MM Keeravani. In 2008, he sang his first film song, 'Jhalak Diklaja' for the Telugu film 'Maha Yagnam', composed by Vandemataram Srinivas. He won the Best Male Singer at Maa Music Awards for “Vey Vey Debbaku Debba” from the film 'Rajanna'. He also won the Best Debut Singer-Male award at BIG FM for “Ambadari” and “Chiranjeeva Chiranjeeva” from the film 'Badrinath'.

He went onto participate in several reality shows on Telugu television channels and emerged as title winner.

To an exclusive interview with an online portal, Revanth mentions, “I have big dreams and I have to make it big in Bollywood. I have one eye set on Bollywood and the other on Tollywood, but I want to work on my Hindi first.” The winner recalls the time he drew mockery for his poor Hindi on the show: “When I started my journey in Indian Idol, a lot of people laughed at me for not knowing Hindi very well. I did feel bad about it, initially, but I did not let anything negative affect me and kept my willpower strong.”

He was already an established singer in south and has sung for many Tollywood movies. He has sung around 200 songs for Telugu and Kannada movies. Also he has made his mark by lending his voice for the song "Manohari" from the hit film 'Baahubali: The Beginning', for which he received IIFA Utsavam and MAA Music Award nominations for best male playback singer.

But he has his own plan of taking his dreams a little more further. Revanth is ready to repeat the struggle in Bollywood, as he’s sure that he will rise. “I know the value of money, opportunity and hard work,” he says. “I know that Bollywood is a huge industry and the number of artists is huge as well. But I want its people to listen to my songs and recognise my talent?"

Not many know but Revanth was a part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh camp as a youngster. When we ask him about his female fan following which is burgeoning courtesy his good looks and swag, Revanth gets shy. “I was part of the RSS. I grew up in a joint family and my grandfather was very strict. It was middle-class upbringing. It is ok if girls call me good-looking but none of that will work if I don’t sing well,” he says. When we tell him that he wooed the female celebs with panache, he says, “A bit of healthy flirting is cool.”

After winning the Indian Idol Title, Revanth was awarded a prize money of Rs 25 lakh, Mahindra KUV100 and also a singing contract with Sony Music.
