Veteran actress Rita Bhaduri dies of Kidney ailment

After TMKOC's Kavi Kumar Azad, another familiar face in Television soaps and Bollywood films, Rita Bhaduri died in Mumbai on Tuesday. Bhaduri was suffering from some kidney-related ailment and undergoing dialysis at Sujoy Hospital in suburban Juhu, Mumbai. She was 62.

Television actor Shishir Sharma took to social media platform Facebook and confirmed the news of Bhaduri's demise. Bhaduri's funeral will be held at Andheri in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon.

"We deeply regret to inform you that Reeta Bhaduri has departed for her journey beyond. The funeral rites will be held on 17th July, Tuesday at 12 noon at the Cremation Ground, Parsi Wada Road, Parshiwada, Chakala, Andheri East. Extremely sad. Lost a wonderful human being... a mother to many of us... Will miss you Ma," Sharma wrote in his post.

Earlier in July, the actress was admitted at the Sujay hospital in Vile Parle and further shifted to ICU for the past 10 days.

Expressing his grief over Bhaduri's demise producer Zama Habib said, "We were at the hospital last night. Her condition was not good. We have cancelled today's shoot due to her demise".

Zama Habib is the producer and writer of Nimki Mukhiya, the ongoing Star Bharat serial, in which Bhaduri had been playing Imarti Devi, the grandmother of the house.

"The last time she shot for the show was almost 15 days back. We were waiting for her to recover. Today is her funeral. We will see what can be done," Habib added.

Besides Nimki Mukhiya, Bhaduri is known for her role in Hasratein, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Khichdi, Ek Nayi Pehchaan, Amanat, Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka and Kumkum. She was particularly popular for playing roles of a mother or grandmother.

Talking about her big screen appearance, Rita played important supporting roles in movies like Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Kya Kehna, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar and Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon. She also featured in a bunch of Gujarati and other regional language films.
