New Delhi:
Quiz game show “Kaun Banega Crorepati” on Thursday paid tributes to his host, megastar Amitabh Bachchan as he completes five decades in Indian cinema. Bachchan’s debut, “Saat Hindustani”, released on November 7, 1969. The TRP topping show however later received backlash from netizens for not using ‘Chatrapati Maharaj’ with Shivaji in one of the options uses with a question.
The hashtag #BoycottKBCSonyTV was trending on Twitter attacking more than 23 thousand tweets after the episode aired. The question asked to the participant was, “Which of these rulers was the contemporary of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb?” and the four options for it were Maharana Pratap, Rana Sanga, Maharaj Ranjit Singh and Shivaji.
Here are some of the reactions.
#Boycott_KBC_SonyTv I was a big fan of @SrBachchan and regular viewer of @SonyTV but not anymore...

One of the main objectives of Aurangzeb’s policy was to demolish Hindu temples ! And many brutal objectives so far.........

#Boycott_KBC_SonyTv my respect for the show & the anchor has taken a huge dip when i see that the respectable #ChatrapatiShivajiMaharaj is denigrated by being called by first name only & the worst of all Mughal rules aurangzeb being ennobled with such respect @VikasSaraswat pic.twitter.com/9UGJKaz1Tv

Earlier in September netizens were angry on Amitabh Bachchan for allegedly cracking a sexist joke. While congratulating a contestamt for becoming a crorepati, Big b had said, “"Now girls will get attracted to you saying, 'Karodpati ji, main aapki KarodPATNI banna chahti hoon.' (Mr Crorepati, I’d like to be your crore-patni)”
Some section of twitter opined that is was not right on ths host’s part to call women ‘gold-diggers.’
