India's map underwent a change on October 31 as the state of Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated and the two union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were born. The new UTs came into existence at midnight on October 31. After the bifuraction, many people shared what they claimed was the new map of India. Both these maps show the erstwhile state of J&K divided into two halves. However, one shows the state divided into two equal parts while the other shows much larger Ladakh. The main difference is that in one map the the Pakistan occuiped Gilgit-Baltistan area is seen to fall in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, while in the other it is in Ladakh.

Gilgit-Baltistan with Jammu and Kashmir:

Gilgit-Baltistan with Ladakh:

So which one is correct? The answer is the second image.

The new map of India was released by the Survey General of India on October 31. This map shows Gilgit-Baltistan as part of the Ladakh union territory. Union minister Dr Jitendra Singh had also tweeted a photo of the latest map showing "the Union Territories of #Jammu & #Kashmir and #Ladakh, as these exist after 31st October 2019."

It is clear that the map with Ladakh having a larger area is the correct represenation of the new status of territories. The other map seems to be an illustration made by people who were expecting PoK to fall in the Jammu and Kashmir territory.
