In yet another shameful incident, a senior official of Air India has been accused of sexually harassing an air hostess for the last six years.
The air hostess has also accused the airline management of not taking necessary steps on her complaints submitted in September 2017.
In the meantime, requesting for justice, the air hostess on Friday dashed a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu and copied Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same. She has also asked the government to appoint a ‘neutral’ investigation committee to look into the incident.
Replying to her letter, Prabhu took to micro-blogging site Twitter and said, "Asked Air India CMD to immediately address the issue. If necessary, will appoint another committee".
"This senior executive is a predator and has sexually propositioned me, abused me, used abusive languages on other women in my presence, spoken of sexual acts with me and other women in my presence in office premises," the letter dated May 25 reads.
Talking about management's negligence, the air hostess wrote, "I used the internal processes because I did not want to attract publicity or attention, in the media or the Airline, but six years of torture and nine months of torturous delay and cover-ups have left me frustrated."
The air hostess also accused the airline’s women cell of dragging its feet on the issue. Going by the letter, the employee was also "denied positions and privileges" after she "rejected his advances". She, however, has not disclosed the name of the executive and will reveal his name only to Suresh Prabhu.
Although the concerned authority has refused to comment further on the matter, the air hostess has been assured justice regarding the same.
