Cautioning the authorities of violence, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gagan Bhagat said that people will take up arms and stones if the special status of Jammu and Kashmir is revoked.
“If the Article 35-A is fiddled with, people of Kashmir won’t suffer as much as people of Jammu. People of Kashmir are fighting our battle while the people of Jammu are calling for the abrogation of Article-35A. We will lose everything - our identity, jobs, business and our land to outsiders" said BJP MLA from RS Pura, Gagan Bhagat while addressing the people of his constituency in a meeting.
"We will be left with no option but to either pick up the gun or stones for our rights. We all must raise our voice so that it reaches court. BJP is befooling the people especially of Jammu region for vote bank"
“If terrorism spreads to Jammu the BJP would be responsible. BJP is afraid of revoking special status. They don’t have guts to remove Article-35A while even being in power” he said.
Earlier, on August 6, the court said a three-judge bench would decide whether the pleas should be referred to a five-judge Constitution bench for examining the larger issue of alleged violation of the doctrine of the basic structure of the Constitution.
