New Delhi :

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday hit out at Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy for his statement that Hyderabad is a "safe zone for terrorists". Asserting that there is peace in the city since past 5 years, the Hyderabad MP said that it’s unfortunate that the minister has stooped so low.

Owaisi, who was re-elected to Lok Sabha from Hyderabad for fourth consecutive term, asked Reddy to spell out as to how many written advisories were sent by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) to the Home Ministry during last five years that Hyderabad had become a safe heaven for terrorists.

“Since past 5 years there is peace here, there are no communal riots, religious festivals are peacefully celebrated, it is a growing city and he is speaking like that. What enmity do they have with Telangana, Hyderabad? Do they not like that it is growing?” he added.

Kishan Reddy, an MP from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, had said on Friday that Hyderabad had become a safe zone for terrorists as any terror incident in the country would have a link to the city.

"The statement shows how much they hate Telangana and Hyderabad. They don't want to see the state and the city grow because major companies are investing here due to the efforts of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao," Owaisi said.

Despite the controversy over his remark, Reddy stood firm on it saying he didn’t say anything wrong, ANI reported.

“There are places in country where terror activities are on a rise. If an incident takes place in Bengaluru, Bhopal, its roots are traced to Hyderabad. State police, NIA have arrested terrorists in Hyderabad every 2-3 months. I didn't say anything wrong,” Reddy said.
