Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam khan on Sunday stoked controversy, saying that “women should not go at places where they can be molested.”
He also advised women to stay at home. “Women should go out, if necessary. They must be kept at home after Bulandshahr rape incident.”
When asked about rape a video which has gone viral on social media in which two women were seen molested by a group of men, the former minister said that it was not a surprise for him as incidents of rapes and loot have increased in the state since the new BJP government took over the reign.

The SP leader has given several controversial statements in the past. Khan had to offer unconditional apology after the Supreme Court ordered to do so over plea of Bulandshahr victim.
