Bengaluru:

Karnataka lokayukta Justice P Vishwanath Shetty on Wednesday was stabbed multiple times at his Bengaluru office by a man who was there to lodge a complaint.

Ramalinga Reddy, Karnataka home minister,  said, “Shetty was out of danger. The attacker has been identified as one Tejas Sharma and he has been arrested from the crime scene.”

According to Bengaluru Police, the 74-year-old She\tty was rushed to nearby hospitals by his colleagues.

Police further said that the incident has been recorded in the CCTV cameras installed in the office.

Shetty, a retired Karnataka High Court judge, took over as the anti-corruption ombudsman last year in January.

According to police, Sharma managed to sneak the sharp weapon into Shetty’s office by trespassing the security check in the multi-storey building.

A senior leader of the state ruling Congress said that the Lokayukta prefers to be accessible to all people and there is hardly any security at his office.

He further termed the attacker as a ‘madman’. “There was no bar for anybody. Anyone could access him with one's grievances,” said the Congress leader.
