Two days after Bhojpuri film actor Manoj Pandey was arrested on the charges of allegedly raping a 27-year-old singer, Mumbai police on Sunday arrested his wife for allegedly assisting him. Police said, the actor’s 20-year-old wife was arrested from her residence in Kandivali. According to police Pandey and his wife have been booked under the IPC sections 376 (rape), 406 (breach of trust), 317 (exposure and abandonment of child under 12 years and other relevant IPC sections. According to police the couple had also cheated the victim of Rs 10.80 lakh. The victim had approached the police on September 15. She had lodged an rape complaint against Pandey and the actor’s wife for allegedly threatening her of dire consequences. Police has arrested Pandey on September 21 from Kalan area, where he was shooting a film. According to the woman she was in a live-in relationship with Pandey and forced her to go an abortion in 2015, when she was two months pregnant. Police said that the singer in her complaint had mentioned that she met Pandey at a party in 2012 where he promised her a role in a movie starring him. In the complaint the victim also mentioned that she stated that they moved into a rented apartment in Kandivali and she was bearing the accommodation expenses.
