Welcoming all the 13 actors to BJP, Dilip Ghosh asserted that the people in West Bengal are inspired by the leadership and development work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Alleging that BJP members were being intimidated and harassed by the state's ruling party, Ghosh said, risky to join the BJP in Bengal these days." "We bow to their courage, that in these circumstances they can even think of joining us," Ghosh added.

The Bengali actors who joined BJP are Rishi Kaushik, Parno Mitra, Kanchana Moitra, Rupanjana Mitra, Biswajit Ganguly, Deb Ranjan Nag, Arindam Halder, Moumita Gupta, Anindya Banerjee, Sourav Chakravorty, Rupa Bhattacharya, Anjana Basu and Kaushik Chakraborty. It is to be noted that they all are well-known faces in the world of Bengali TV series and films.

Soon after the BJP registered a thumping victory in Lok Sabha elections 2019, several big politicians of TMC, CPI(M) and Congress from West Bengal joined the saffron party.

It is to be noted that the BJP has emerged at the main opponent of the Mamata Banerjee-led party and is eyeing to wrest power from TMC in the state.

In the Lok Sabha elections 2019, Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool managed to win only 22 seats out of 42 in West Bengal. In the meantime, BJP bagged a whopping 18 seats.

The saffron party hopes that the new recruits will provide it an edge in the upcoming state elections, which will be held in 2021. It is being said that Mamata Banerjee could call elections earlier to prevent the BJP from consolidating its Lok Sabha election gains.
