Hours after raking up a massive political storm with her vexed remark on BSP chief Mayawati, BJP MLA Sadhana Singh came out in her own defence, saying she had no intentions of disrespecting anyone and furthermore expressing regret if someone was hurt by those words. Early in the day, Singh, the fractious BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh called Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati 'worse than a eunuch'.
"BJP MLA Sadhana Singh on her statement on BSP chief Mayawati: I had no intentions of disrespecting anyone, I express regret if someone was hurt by my words," the news agency ANI reported along with a copy of her letter.

The remarks of the BJP leader received wide condemnation from across party lines with the BSP stating that the words used for Mayawati show the level of the saffron party. "After the announcement of this coalition (SP-BSP), BJP leaders have lost their mental balance and they should be admitted to mental hospitals in Agra and Bareilly," senior BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra said.
Criticising the incident, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said the remarks of the BJP leader was an "insult to the women of the country" and demonstrate the "moral bankruptcy and hopelessness" of the saffron party.
Singh's statement came on the heels of SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019.
"She (Mayawati) has no self-respect... she was almost molested earlier and yet... in history, when Draupadi was molested, she took a vow to seek revenge... but this woman, she lost everything, but still sold her dignity for the sake of power. We strongly condemn Mayawati Ji. She is a blot on womankind. A woman who gulped insults for comfort and power ... is a blot on womankind," the BJP lawmaker from Mughalsarai went on to claim further.
