Amid reports of a rift between the Congress-JDS alliance government in Karnataka following a rout in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections 2019, the top leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asked BS Yeddyurappa not to disturb or attempt to topple the government in the state.
“We will remain silent for the time being…We've been clearly informed not to disturb or attempt to topple the government in the state,” Yeddyurappa, who has already claimed that state government will fall because of their infighting, said.
“I have just returned from Delhi. Our leaders have instructed me not to involve in any move that will scuttle the govt in the state. I believe that Siddaramaiah is sending some of his MLAs to me and is trying to take political leverage,” the former Karnataka chief minister was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
BS Yeddyurappa, BJP: We will remain silent for the time being. They (Congress) may fight with each other and anything can happen. We've been clearly informed not to disturb or attempt to topple the government in the state. #Karnataka (31.05.2019) https://t.co/svOAkefdUa— ANI (@ANI) June 1, 2019
Earlier, Yeddyurappa hit out at the ruling alliance for creating an "atmosphere of confusion" and asked them to perform or "resign and go home".
"We don't have any feeling that we have to go for elections. It is certain that they (Congress and JDS) will go home fighting each other. We will wait. We are 105 (MLAs), we are ready to wait," Yeddyurappa said.
"Let them (Congress-JDS) work efficiently or resign and go home. Instead of that by creating an atmosphere of confusion and loot they are indulging in, they cannot be forgiven," he added.
Boasting about the BJP's performance in the state in the Lok Sabha polls, Yeddyurappa had said on Tuesday it would be "better" if the ruling Congress-JD(S) coalition in the state dissolves the assembly and goes for fresh polls.
The ruling party at the Center had won 25 of 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state and an independent candidate supported by it in Mandya.
