A 19-year-old student, who was given the President's award for excelling in the CBSE board exam, was allegedly kidnapped and raped by four to five people at Kanina in Haryana's Mahendergarh district on Wednesday, the police said on Thursday.
The police said the accused had kidnapped the woman in a car and took her to a secluded place where they offered a drink laced with sedatives before raping her. They later left her near a bus stop in Kanina.
An official of Women Police station in Rewari told news agency PTI that a 'zero FIR' was lodged on the complaint of the woman, and the probe was being conducted by the Mahendergarh police as the incident occurred in the area under their jurisdiction. A zero FIR can be filed in any police station, irrespective of place of incident or jurisdiction and the same can be later transferred to the concerned Police Station.
Reports suggest she had topped the CBSE board exam.
