CBSE paper leak: Delhi Police arrests two teachers, coaching centre owner

New Delhi:

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch on Sunday arrested a coaching centre owner and two teachers in connection with the Central Board of Secondary Education paper leak scam.

"Delhi Police says 2 teachers & a coaching centre owner were arrested over XII class #PaperLeak, the teachers clicked photos of paper at 9:15 AM & passed it to coaching centre owner, who passed it to students. Paper was also leaked in handwritten form, for which probe is on," the news agency ANI tweeted.

Earlier on Saturday, three teams of police officials were sent to schools, exam centres and residences of students in outer Delhi in order to investigate the paper leak issue.

The two teachers, identified as Rishabh and Rohit work at a private school in Delhi while the third is a coaching centre owner namely Tauqeer.

According to a top officer, the teachers have revealed that the paper was leaked in printed form at around 9 AM on the day of examination.

Special commissioner R P Upadhyay and joint commissioner Alok Kumar confirmed the arrests of both the teachers and coaching centre owner, reported a leading daily.

The accused are expected to be produced in court on Sunday afternoon and taken on police remand for interrogation.

According to police sources, "The arrested teacher would break the seal an hour before the fixed time of examination from a sealed packet. Further investigations are on progress."

"Both the arrested teachers are working with Mother Khazani Convent school situated in Mungeshpur village near Auchandi on Delhi-Haryana border. Tauqeer, who is working with a coaching center at Asthal Colony in Bawana sent question paper as well as solved answers after taking money, and police are gathering evidence against them," the sources added.

"I was in constant touch with a teacher, school staff of a convent school," Tauqeer the coaching tutor disclosed before JCP Kumar.

"Police immediately sent their teams to the village, where the school is situated. The suspects were taken to the Crime Branch office in Shakarpur on Saturday evening where they were questioned by senior officials," according to the source.

The move came hours after the crime branch officials questioned a principal and six teachers of three Delhi public schools in connection with the same.

As many as 60 people have been questioned till now, out of which 10 are identified as tutors of different coaching centres. Over 50 cell phones of students and tutors have also been seized in connection with the paper leak issue.

Moreover, SIT on Saturday night also visited CBSE’s headquarters and is suspecting the involvement of a senior CBSE official in the scam.
