A two-seater trainee aircraft crashed in the jungles near the Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra border on Wednesday. Two trainee pilots including a female, from the Maharashtra's national flying institute (NFTI) died after their chopper hit a live electrical wire during a low flying in maoist-infested Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh.
The incident took place around 10 am around 70 km from the Balaghat district headquarters on Wednesday. After hitting the wire, the pilots lost their control over the chopper. DGCA has ordered an inquiry into the matter.
"We have sent our team to the spot. Initially, it seems that the chopper got tangled with a live wire during a low flying," said G Janardhan, IG Balaghat.
