Earlier on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi took over as the 16th President of the Indian National Congress (INC) post-independence from his mother Sonia Gandhi who was leading the party for 19 long years.
Rahul took the charge at a ceremony held at the lawns of the party’s 24 Akbar Road headquarters in Delhi.
In his first speech as Party President, Rahul Gandhi fired salvo at BJP and accused the saffron party of spreading hatred in the country.
Rahul said, “Congress took India to 21st century, but Prime Minister Modi is taking the country back to the medieval times.”
“If there is anyone who can stop what the BJP is doing, it is the 'pyara karyakarta & neta' of Congress. We are going to make Congress, grand old and young party. We will fight the politics of anger,” he said.
