Two terrorists were killed on Saturday morning in a shootout with security forces in Gahand area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Indian Army’s 34 RR and SOG Shopian had launched a cordon and search operation after specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area. “As the cordon was tightened, the terrorists fired at the forces, triggering a fierce gunfight in which four ultras were neutralised,” a police official said. On April 1, four terrorists were gunned down by security forces in restive south Kashmir. The terrorists belonged to the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror outfit. Lassipora, the site of the encounter, is near the national Highway 1 A, where the February 14 blast took place.
