Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister ND Tiwari passes away in Delhi hospital

New Delhi:

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister N D Tiwari passed away on Thursday in a hospital in Delhi after prolonged illness, according to hospital sources. He was 93.

Tiwari, who was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Max Super Speciality Hospital since October 26 breath his last at 2.50 pm, the doctors said.

The politician was admitted to the hospital in September and a team of doctors was monitoring his condition in the ICU round the clock.

He was admitted at the Max Super Specialty Hospital in Saket in the national capital on September 20, 2017 following a brain-stroke. He was then shifted to the ICU on October 26. As his health condition worsened steadily, doctors conducted several tests on him on July 3, 2018.

The former chief minister of undivided Uttar Pradesh for four terms was also the first elected chief minister of Uttarakhand.

The veteran leader also served as a Union minister in several Congress governments and as the Andhra Pradesh governor.
