The Dera Sacha Sauda authorities spent at least Rs 5 crore to cause unrest and create havoc in Haryana and Punjab on the day Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted for raping two his followers, according to Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the August 25 violence.  

The SIT probing the case in its report has mentioned that Ram Rahim’s sect was involved in funding the violence which led to death of 39 people and destruction of public and private properties worth crores.

SIT is also probing the involvement of Honeypreet Insaan, Aditya Insaan and Surender Himan Insaan’s involvement in the case.

According to SIT report, Chakaur Singh, Dera’s Panchkula head, was paid for arranging mob to create ruckus.

Singh along with his family has gone underground after Punjab and Haryana High Court directed the police to register sedition case against him.

The report also mentioned that the Dera followers were told by the sect that they would be compensated in case of loss of life or serious injury during the violence.

SIT also stated in its report that Dera had pumped in money to various places in Punjab to create ruckus on the Ram Rahim’s conviction day.

The report also states that Singh had supervised the violence around the CBI court in Panchkula.
