Incessant rain in the last three days triggering flash floods has claimed 41 lives in Bihar, 10 lives in Assam and paralysed normal life in West Bengal.
Pratyay Amrit, Bihar principal secretary of Disaster Management Department, said, “41 people have died in the flash floods.”
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday conducted an aerial survey of flood-hit areas.
Kumar talking to media after the aerial survey said, Araria is the worst affected district, while flood waters have engulfed large areas of Kishanganj, Purnea and Katihar districts.
Kumar said heavy rains in Nepal and Bihar has led to the situation.

Kumar was accompanied by Disaster Management Minister Dinesh Chandra Yadav and Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh.
In Assam 10 people have been killed in the second wave of floods. According to reports more than 10 lakh people have been displaced in the state in the last 24 hours. More than 85% of the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) is under flood-waters.
According to reports, more than 60,000 people have been displaced in West Bengal’s Alipurdar and Jalpaiguri district.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “Earlier floods had affected south Bengal and now it is north Bengal. We have initiated rescue operations in the flooded areas.”
West Bengal government officials told the media that it is impossible to run trains and buses beyond Birbhum district without endangering the lives of passengers.
East Central Railway service has been hit between Kishanganj and Hatwar in West Bengal as water is flowing above the danger mark at several locations in Katihar division. According to ECR officials around 33 trains have been cancelled and around 10 have been stopped midway.
