Hindu girls also victim of Triple Talaq: New PIL in Delhi HC

New Delhi:

A fresh PIL filed in Delhi High Court seeks justice and clarification on the effects of triple talaq on Hindu girls, in cases where they have been married to Muslim men.

Petition filed by advocate Vijay Shankar Shukla, demands to shed limelight on the plight of Hindu girls affected by triple talaq, as the focus in discourse has remained fixated on their Muslim counterparts.

The marriage between Muslim man and Hindu is documented by a Nikahnama written in Urdu, which fails to explain the provisions of triple talaq or polygamy to the bride, the PIL claims.

The petition, thus, claims that either triple talaq or polygamy should be declared illegal in such cases.

Delhi High Court's chief justice Gita Mittal's bench will hear the petition on Friday.
