New Delhi:

Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday asked engineering students to develop a distribution system that would prevent leak of question papers.

“How to do it? In a huge country like ours, where paper is printed at a place and then it is packed somewhere else and then sent to examinations centre. How to ensure there is no breach? You have to build this firewall,” said Javadekar while addressing the second edition of Smart India Hackathon 2018.

The Union HRD Ministry is organising the event. It will be held on March 30-31 to develop mobile applications and computer programmes for Union ministries and state governments.

“We want a single question paper of all centres. There is always a possibility of the paper being leaking. I am throwing the challenge because I am sure the new generation will come up with brilliant ideas,” Javadekar added.

The HRD minister asked the engineers participating in the hackathon to develop the system after thousands of students across the country are protesting against the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)’s decision to conduct class 10 mathematics and class 12 economics exams after the question papers were allegedly circulated on the social media.

Students are also protesting against the HRD minister and have demanded immediate and stringent action the board and the culprits behind the leak.

The CBSE on Wednesday announced that around two million students will have to reappear for the two papers — class 10 mathematics and class 12 economics. The reexamination dates are likely to be announced on Monday.
