New Delhi:

In a major reshuffle, Mayawatis’ Bahujan Samaj Party on Wednesday removed Amroha MP Danish Ali as party’s leader in Lok Sabha. While Jaunpur MP Shyam Singh Yadav replaced Ali, Ambedkar Nagar parliamentarian Ritesh Pandey was appointed Deputy leader of the party in the Lok Sabha.

Danish Ali, who was with the Deve Gowda's Janata Dal-Secular, had joined the BSP just before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He contested the elections from Amroha and was appointed as the leader of the BSP's Lok Sabha group, a move that surprised many.

"To bring balance among all sections of society in the party after the appointment of Munquad Ali as state president, OBC leader and Lok Sabha member Shyam Singh Yadav has been made a leader of the party in the lower house in place of Danish Ali," the BSP said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Girish Chandra Jatav has retianed his post as Chief Whip of the party in the Lok Sabha. BSP said that the organisational changes were made keeping in view the party ideology of "interest of all, happiness of all" and taking into consideration the population of Uttar Pradesh.

Recalling the BSP UP chief Munquad Ali's journey with the party, the statement said that he started his politics from the BSP and stood for the party through all the ups and downs it faced. Munquad Ali replaced RS Kushwaha, who was made BSP's central unit general secretary.
