New Delhi:

Former INX media chief Indrani Mukerjea, who was admitted to Mumbai's JJ Hospital following a complaint of the chest, has been discharged from the hospital Sunday around 7.30 am after her test results came out normal.

Mukerjea, who is lodged in the Byculla women's jail for allegedly abducting and murdering her daughter Sheena Bora, was rushed to the state-run medical facility at 11.30 pm on Friday with a history of chest pain and discomfort.

Mukerjea underwent a series of clinical evaluations after she was brought to the critical care unit (CCU) of the hospital, according to SD Nanandkar, JJ Hospital dean.

While her ECG indicated mild changes in heart rhythm, her chest X-ray report was normal.

"Her MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) test report of the neck was awaited. Her condition is not serious. Some tests related to cardiology are pending," Nanandkar told PTI.

Earlier in April, she was taken to JJ Hospital in a semi-conscious condition and subsequently underwent a series of medical tests including CT scan, ultrasound and MRI. Her reports then suggested that she had an overdose of anti-depressants that were not prescribed by the doctors.

Currently, Mukerjea is on trial for allegedly killing her daughter Sheena Bora on April 24, 2012. Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai were arrested after the dreadful incident came to light in August 2015. Rai later turned an approver (prosecution witness) in the case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) later arrested Mukerjea's present husband Peter Mukerjea for allegedly being part of the murder conspiracy. The high-profile case, which has attracted a lot of media attention, was initially handled by the Mumbai Police and later transferred to the CBI.
