New Delhi:
Arunachal Pradesh, for the first time, will hold an International Tribal Film Festival to promote and celebrate tribal communities the world over and showcase their rich culture and their way of life.
The state government and the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) on Monday signed the pact to organise the festival in Itanagar. ESG was set up by the Goa government in 2004 to frame an entertainment policy for the coastal state.

The International Tribal Film Festival will be held in the state capital for three days in January 2019. It will showcase films on tribal communities from around the world, Siddesh Sane, an administrative officer of the ESG, said.
“We wish to showcase tribal people, their way of life and culture from different corners of the globe,” Sane told reporters.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu said visits of international artistes and media personalities to the state will boost the state tourism. It would also foster economic activities and create job opportunities for the people in the state, he said at the signing of the pact on Monday.

“We are wary of the fillip the IFFI has given to Goa to emerge as an international tourist destination as well as the entertainment nerve-centre of the country. We expect the same from the scheduled film festival in Itanagar,” Khandu added.
The Entertainment Society of Goa holds the International film festival of India every year.
