International Yoga Day 2018: Yoga 'powerful unifying' force in strife-torn world, says PM Modi

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday led an estimated 50,000 enthusiasts performing asanas during the 4th International Yoga day celebrations at the picturesque Forest Research Institute in Dehradun.

Addressing a large gathering on the occasion of International Yoga Day, Modi said that yoga has shown the world the way from "illness to wellness" and enriching lives across the globe.

"From Dehradun to Dublin, from Shanghai to Chicago, from Jakarta to Johannesburg, Yoga is everywhere. Yoga has become one of the biggest mass movements in the quest for good health and wellbeing," the prime minister said.

#07:15 AM: India should be honoured to be 'guardians' of yoga: "We should be proud of our culture. On the contrary, if we doubt our tradition and culture then the world will not put it's faith in us." Modi said India should be proud to be the "guardians of the great practice."

#07:10 AM: Yoga India's top ambassador: "Yoga is beautiful because it is ancient yet modern, it is constant yet evolving. It has the best of our past and presents and a ray of hope for our future. In Yoga, we have the perfect solution to the problems we face, either as individuals or in our society. India is Yoga's top ambassador," says PM Modi.
