Jailed Hizbul Mujahiddeen commanders planned, monitored escape of Pak terrorist via 4G phones from Srinagar Central Jail

Kashmir’s home-grown militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen senior commanders planned and monitored escape of Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Naveed Bhatt from SMHS hospital last month from behind the high walls of Jammu and Kashmir Central Jail through high-end 4G-enabled mobile phones.

The fact surfaced up after National Investigation Agency (NIA) and NSG commandos in a raid at the jail campus on Monday recovered several 4G enabled phones, several terror-related documents and other electronic devices.

A senior NIA officer not willing to be quoted said, “While investigating the escape of dreaded LeT terrorist from SNHS hospital last month we learnt that his escape plan was planned and was being monitored by Hizbul Mujahideen commanders serving jail terms in Srinagar Central Jail.”

He added on Monday, a 20 special teams including NIA sleuths, NSG commandos and Jammu and Kashmir Police raided the Central Jail. Magistrates and doctors also accompanied the raiding teams. The whole search operation was being monitored by drones.

The raiding teams during the 12-hours search operation recovered 25 mobile phones, several SIM cards, SD cards, pen drives, iPod and large number of incriminating documents including a poster of Hizbul-Mujahideen and a Pakistani flag from the Central Jail campus.

The NIA officer also told NewsNation.in that the raids in jail campus were carried out after two youths arrested recently from Kupwara told investigative agencies that several fresh recruits including Al-Badr was carried out by Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists from behind the jail campus.
