New Delhi:

Jammu and Kashmir BJP unit Thursday asked Union Home Minister Amit Shah to establish a special crimes tribunal to investigate alleged transgressions against Kashmiri Pandits over the past three decades. “Kashmiri Pandits have demanded establishment of a special crimes tribunal to investigate the crimes against humanity in regard to Kashmiri Pandits over the last three decades. The government is requested to consider the demand on priority so that the culprits are booked and justice done with the exiled community,” said BJP state spokesperson Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo in a statement here.

Chrungoo, along with other office bearers of the BJP’s state unit, met Shah here during the Home Minister’s two-day visit to the state.

The BJP leader said the Mughal Road, which connects Kashmir to Poonch-Rajouri region, has become a national security, law and order problem.

“This road is being misused to further the cause of terrorists, infiltrators from Pakistan, drug trafficking, human trafficking, bovine animals smuggling and also plying illegal road traffic. This needs to be taken very seriously by the government in order to stop such a developing scenario,” he said.

Chrungoo said the Kashmiri Pandit community’s representation in the state assembly needs to be ensured by taking supportive measures.

“It will go a long way to establish their indigenous character politically and will help the overall cause of the community, the BJP and the nation,” he added.
