New Delhi:
Voting for the third phase of the Urban Local Body Elections in Jammu and Kashmir is being held across 96 wards on Saturday. The polling began at 6 am amid tight security and will conclude at 4 pm. According to the Election Commission (EC), a total of 372 candidates are in the fray. Earlier, as many as 207 wards were scheduled to go to polls in the third phase, however, the elections are being held in only 100 wards — 56 in Samba district in Jammu division and 44 in the Kashmir region. The results of the Jammu and Kashmir Urban Local Body Elections will be announced on October 20.

# Very low voter turnout in Valley:Â The 20 wards of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, where voting is underway, have witnessed only 0.8 per cent of the 1.53 lakh voters turn up at the polling stations. In Anantnag district, only 100 of the 5,469 votes have been polled in the first three hours of polling. (PTI)
