New Delhi :

The political crisis in Karnataka seems to be not ending anytime soon as the BJP is scheduled to hold protest against Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar on Wednesday after he rejected the resignation of eight of the 13 Congress-JDS MLAs, saying they were not in order. Former Karnataka chief minister and BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa on Tuesday said that what the Speaker has done was wrong and that they may also seek Governor’s intervention in the matter.

“What Karnataka speaker has done is not wrong? We are going to hold a protest at Gandhi statue tomorrow. We may also go to the Governor,” Yeddyurappa said. The reaction from Karnataka’s tallest BJP leader came soon after the Speaker’s breather to the Congress-JDS coalition government.

“…Out of 13 resignations (by the MLAs), 8 are not in order. Five other rebels have proper resignations and I have given time to them to present themselves before me,” Kumar had said.

The resignations of five MLAs - Anand Singh, Ramalinga Reddy, Narayan Gowda, Pratap Goud Patil and Gopaliah were found in proper format and they have been asked to meet the Speaker.

“For remaining 5, I'm giving them two-day time. I'm calling three of them on July 12 to meet me personally. I have called two others on 15th July.” Recalling the sequence of events on Saturday, Kumar said that, “On July 6th, I was in office till 12.30pm, none of the legislators sought appointment from me.”
