The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Tuesday extended the deadline for filing income tax return in the flood-ravaged Kerala by 15 days to September 15, 2018, according to official sources.
Due to disruption caused by severe floods in Kerala, CBDT hereby further extends the due date for furnishing Income Tax Returns from 31st Aug,2018 to 15th Sept,2018 for all Income Tax assessees in the State of Kerala, who were liable to file their Income Tax Returns by 31.08.2018.— Income Tax India (@IncomeTaxIndia) August 28, 2018
The CBDT had earlier extended the due date for filing of Income Tax Returns from July 31, 2018 to August 31, 2018 for salaried employees.
The heavy rains and subsequent floods had led to destruction of life and property in the southern state.
Earlier, basic customs duty and Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) were exempted for the goods imported or supplied for flood relief operations in God's Own Country.
