Padmaavat release: Protesters attack school bus in Gurugram; Multiplex body says will not screen movie in 4 states

As time is closing in for the release of ‘Padmaavat’, fringe groups have vowed to stop screening of the movie in cinema halls and movie theatres in defiance of Supreme Court orders.

The fringe groups have intensified their protests across the country. Rajput women in Chittorgarh have threatened to commit 'Jauhar' after burning effigy's of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. 

Violence and protests have been reported from Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh — the states were the governments had banned the movie.

According to reports, protesters have blocked the Delhi-Jaipur highway and in UP’s Etawah  police had to lathicharge to disperse fringe groups who damaged vehicles and forced shops to shut down.  

On Tuesday night, violence and arson hit Ahmedabad. Protesters damaged or torched around 150 four-wheelers or two-wheelers. They had targeted three malls with multiplexes and a standalone theatre complex.
