New Delhi:

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala on Tuesday attack the BJP government over the LPG price hike, saying Modi government’s ‘greed’ is making everyone’s budget ‘bleed’.

“They Loot in the Name of Fuel” Modi Govt’s ‘Greed’ is making Everyone’s Budget ‘Bleed’! Crores of common people will suffer after yet another #LPG price hike by Modi Govt today,” the Congress leader tweeted.

Subsidised cooking gas (LPG) price was hiked by Rs 1.76 per cylinder on Tuesday.

In August, LPG in Delhi will be sold at subsidised rates of Rs 498.02 per cylinder and Rs 789.5 at non-subsidised rates against current rates of Rs 496.26 and Rs 754.00 per cylinder respectively, according to Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

Calling the price hike an assault on the people, Surjewala alleged that the BJP government has already earned a humongous Rs ten lakh crore in taxes on fuel prices.

The Congress leader also alleged that in the past four years, the had been an increase Rs 86 per cylinder.

“The price of subsidised cooking gas (LPG) has been hiked by Rs 1.76 per cylind, while the price of non-subsidised cylinder was hiked by Rs 35.50 per cylinder. In  May 16, 2014- A subsidised 14.2-kg LPG cylinder used to cost Rs 412 in Delhi, after increase in the price it costs Rs 498.02. This is an outrageous increase of Rs 86 per cylinder in the past 4 years,” Surjewala said said.

Surjewala alleged that PM modi’s promise of ‘Acche Din’ had turned out to be the biggest hoax played on the people of India and added that people have few months left to give a befitting reply to the Narendra Modi government.

The congress also demanded that fuel prices be brought under the GST ambit.
