During the anti-Naxal campaign “Operation Prahaar,” the police have achieved big success in Chhattisgarh on Sunday. Security forces have gunned down more than a dozen Naxals in the state. During the operation, three DRG jawans have also lost their lives whereas five others have been injured.
The state government had launched “Operation Prahaar” to completely obliterate Naxals from the state. DM Awasthi, DG Naxal operations on “Operation Prahaar” said that 3 DRG jawans martyred, 5 injured whereas over a dozen Naxals dead, 8-10 injured.
Security forces have spotted a Naxal camp in Dantewada which is also known as the bastion of Naxals. The police have recovered many weapons including grenades from the spot.
On Sunday, a police jawan injured in an encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district succumbed to injuries, taking the death toll of security personnel killed in the operation to three.
Two district reserve guard (DRG) jawans were earlier killed and as many others sustained injuries in the gun-battle in Sukma’s Chintagufa area.
Four separate encounters between Naxalites and police have been reported in the state since yesterday, in which three security men have been killed and seven injured, including a sub-inspector.
Two Naxals were also gunned down in these face-offs.
While two encounters took place in Sukma on Saturday, as many others occurred in Bijapur, including one this morning.
