VK Singh to bring back mortal remains of 38 Indians from Iraq today

Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh is set to bring home the mortal remains of 38 of the 39 Indians killed by Islamic State in Iraq on Monday.

The mortal remains of the 38 Indians killed by ISIS in Iraq's Mosul were on Sunday handed over to Indian authorities in Baghdad. 

Indian Ambassador Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit said that the bodies had been taken to Baghdad International Airport and would be flown back on a military flight, arriving in India on Monday.

Minister of State for External Affairs Vijay Kumar Singh, who has flown to Iraq, saluted the remains at the airport as workers loaded the caskets on the aircraft. Singh condemned terrorism and expressed his government's stance in fighting it.

The bodies were handed over to the Indian authorities in Baghdad on Sunday. Indian Ambassador Pradeep Rajpurohit said the bodies had been taken to Baghdad International Airport and would be flown back on a military flight, arriving in India on April 2. On returning, the MoS will travel to Amritsar and Patna to hand over the mortal remains to the respective families of the victims.
