New Delhi:
The BJP government has made it clear that there will be no restriction on RTI applications exceeding 500 words. Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh hit out at Congress leader Manish Tewari for questioning the government on RTI norms and retierated that no changes were made in its fee structure either.
The Congress, earlier had accused Modi government of changing the RTI norms by bringing in a word limit for applications and introducing higher charges to seek information.
The minister also made it clear that new rules propose no change in postal charges for sending information. In a statement, Singh said the government, in consultation with the CIC, decided to work on a notification of a comprehensive set of rules by consolidating the key provisions of the CIC (Management) Regulations and also the Rules of 2012.
