Pakistan based terror groups plan to strike in Delhi, UP on Republic Day

Intelligence agencies have said that Pakistan-based terrorist groups may strike at Delhi. Security agencies have issued an alert in view of the Republic Day parade on 26th January.

As per intel inputs, terrorists may also carry out 26/11 Mumbai type attacks in seven states.  

Highly-placed sources in the security agencies said, “Intelligence Bureau (IB) in its latest alert has mentioned a host of intelligence inputs that suggest terror outfits operating from Pakistan are planning multiple terrorist attack.”

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued an alert to the security agencies of all states, after intelligence agencies alerted of an possible attack.

The MHA has asked police chiefs of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to keep a tight vigil on all airborne crafts and beef up security before in all major cities to thwart any terrorist attack.

The MHA has asked the state director generals of police (DGPs) to keep a surveillance on light aircrafts, helicopters and drones during and before Republic Day celebrations.

The union home ministry communique has also directed the security agencies of these states to keep a tight vigil on unused air-strips and open grounds which can be used for operating light aircrafts.

According to MHA communique, Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI along with Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen, Al Qaeda and Jaish-e-Mohammed fidayeens and members of sleeper cells have been activated to carry out terror attacks in the country.

The MHA has also directed all security agencies especially the CISF to beef up security at all airports across the country.

A senior CISF official said, “The force has increased the number of personnel deployed at all domestic and international airports.”

He added the security has been tightened further at all arrival and departure points of all domestic and international arrival and departure points.

The blueprint of the terror attack was revealed after Uttar Pradesh ATS arrested a suspected militant, Bilal Ahmad Wani, from Shatabdi Express on Sunday. During interrogation he revealed that he along with few of his companions was planning to attack Akshardham Temple in New Delhi.
