New Delhi:

Persisting with their move, the Congress on Wednesday once again looked to move the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

On Tuesday, Lok Sabha failed to take up notices for a no-confidence motion against the government owing the protests by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) legislators. The Rajya Sabha too was adjourned.

Some of the Opposition MPs chose to sit on in the House even after it was adjourned for the day, as a form of protest against the adjournment.

Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan met leaders from the Congress, including its leaders in the House Mallikarjun Kharge and Jyotiraditya Scindia, AIADMK, Shiv Sena, Trinamool Congress, YSR Congress, TRS and BJD among others. Mahajan also consulted Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar over efforts to break the deadlock.
