In the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha on Monday and inaugurate projects worth over Rs 14,500 crore rupee during the day-long visit. The prime minister will arrive in Bhubaneswar at around 1 pm and will inaugurate IIT Bhubaneswar’s new campus, lay the foundation stone for the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) and unveil projects later in the day. He will also address a public gathering at the Gosala ground in Khurda. The prime minister will unveil projects related to higher education, health, road and highways and culture via video conferencing from the capital city. PM Modi will also inaugurate the ESIC hospital in the capital city of Bhubaneshwar built at a cost of Rs 73.5 crore.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Lalitgiri Archaeological Museum which houses huge sculptures of the Buddha and various Buddhist deities. Prime Minister Modi will also release a commemorative coin and a postage stamp in memory of Paika Rebellion at a function at IIT Bhubaneswar. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the 1817 Rebellion led by Buxi Jagabandhu of the Khorda district against the British --- Piaka Rebellion.

Ahead of PM Modi’s visit, security has been beefed up in the places he is scheduled to visit. As many as 45 platoons of the police force have been deployed for PM Modi’s visit. Also, four SPs, 30 DSPs and 10 additional SP rank officers along with 50 inspectors and 100 officers have been deployed as part of the security arrangements. “All the police arrangements have been made as per the specific security guidelines and our focus will be on security as well as crowd management,” said IG (Central Range) Soumendra Priyadarshi as quoted by Odishatv.
“We have made provision for parking of vehicles at 5 places and the movement of vehicles on the National Highway will be restricted. No water bottles, pouches will be allowed inside the public meeting venue while special forces and quick action teams will also be deployed,” Priyadarshi added.

Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who took stock of preparations for Modi’s one-day Odisha visit, said the prime minister will unveil several developmental projects worth Rs 15,000 crore in line with his vision of “PURBODAYA” - a prosperous East for building a new India.
