Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Nepal, on Thursday posed for a group photograph with BIMSTEC leaders in Kathmandu. PM Modi is in the capital city of Nepal in the 4th BIMSTEC Summit, which includes seven neighbouring countries - Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand lying near the Bay of Bengal.

Earlier on Thursday, Modi, who took part at the inaugural session of the BIMSTEC Summit was warmly received by Ishwar Pokhrel, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister of Nepal, on his arrival at the airport in Kathmandu. The prime minister was accorded a red-carpet welcome.

Besides that, Modi also met his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina and other BIMSTEC leaders to review the entire gamut of bilateral ties, including ways to boost economic and cultural cooperation.
On day 2, the Summit will witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the setting up of BIMSTEC Grid Interconnection, which will pave the way for buying and selling electricity among the member states once the cross-country energy grids are put in place.
The summit is taking place amid tight security with around 17,000 security personnel being deployed across Kathmandu.
The government has also introduced odd and even number of vehicles to ply on the road for easing traffic effective from August 29 to 31. Educational institutions will remain closed for three days starting from August 29 keeping in view the traffic problem.

The government has not allowed media persons, except a few belonging to the state-run Nepal Television, at the main venue of 4th BIMSTEC Summit.
