PM Modi's visit to the pink city is significant as Rajasthan is expected to go to polls later in 2018. Hence, the visit is seen as an attempt to woo voters ahead of the Assembly Elections 2018.
During his visit, the prime minister addressed a public meeting, where beneficiaries of seven central government and five state government's flagship schemes shared their experiences with Modi.
The schemes include Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana, Skill India, Rashtriya Bal, Swasthya Karyakram, Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana, Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana, Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan, Shramik Kalyan Card, Mukhyamantri Palanhar Yojana, Chhatra Scooty Vitaran Yojana and Din Dayal Upadhyay Varishth Nagrik Tirth Yatra Yojana.
The entire interaction process took place through an audio-visual presentation, which was moderated by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
Some of the prominent projects, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for, are Integrated Infrastructure package for the walled city of Udaipur, Elevated Road Project for Ajmer, Water Supply and Sewerage projects, Upgradation of STPs.
Projects under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in the districts of Bundi, Ajmer and Bikaner and Dussehra Maidan (Phase 2) in Kota are also in the pipeline.

Modi has been interacting with beneficiaries of several central government schemes since the past few months. Besides that, the prime minister in May had also launched a survey in order to welcome citizens to rate the performance of the BJP-led dispensation at the Centre and MPs and MLAs in their constituencies.
